Last week was another incredible week between Thursday's meet at Wheaton Warrenville South and Friday's meet at the Batavia Distance Madness. We weren't expecting many PRs at WWS (mostly because kids were running in training shoes with FAT timing), but we still celebrated over 65 personal records (PR's) at today's team meeting! Additionally, we ended up winning Wheaton Warrenville South at our varsity level and getting second place at our Fresh/Soph level. Great work, everyone!!

We also had the opportunity to celebrate the following weekly awards:

  • Runner of the week: Charley Halden for winning his heat of the mile with a time of 4:32 (that was a 10-second PR!) at Distance Madness

  • Field Athlete of the week: Boden Haber for getting a PR of 9 feet as a freshmen in pole vault, having some solid attempts at 9'6", and being well on his way to clearing 10'. His passion and true dedication are contagious!

  • Awesome Award: Michael Usry for getting two PRs in one meet in shot put at WWS. Taking home that old, broken shot to practice with is paying off!

  • Fire in the eyes: Tim Meehan for an incredible finish and a PR in the mile. Way to get the entire facility on their feet with that finish!

  • Captain's Award: Jacob Blew for working hard, striving for daily improvement, and always being someone you can count on. A coach from another team even commented on his work ethic and great sportsmanship at the WWS meet.

Congrats, everyone! And thank you, captains, for coming up with those well-deserved awards. Pasta Party this Thursday!

We have our first full-team pasta party this Thursday at 4:15 in Glenbard West's cafeteria. We will have Barones deliver pasta, marinara sauce, meatballs, bread, and salad for every athlete on our team. While we start getting that set up at 4:15, athletes can arrive, hang out, and enjoy each other's company. From 4:30 - 5:30, athletes can enjoy their meal together. Additionally, many parents have volunteered to bring drinks and tasty treats, so please save *some* room for dessert.

This will be a great way to celebrate together before we compete in our most important meet of the indoor season!

Picture Day next week on Monday (3/20/23)

Picture day will take place this Monday (3/20/23) at 4:20. Families can order photos online at mylifetouch.com with the picture ID of EVTKBXV7B. However, if athletes will be taking an individual photo, they will need to have a hard copy of their order form (Lifetouch policy). Athletes should have received a hard copy of the form during today's practice, but I do have extra forms in case anyone needs one. Food Drive Recap With a group of 120+ athletes coming together on a daily basis, we have the power to do a lot of good for our community. Thanks to your help, our team collected 291 pounds of food to help fill the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry's shelves. Thank you so much for your collection efforts and for helping to relieve the hunger that exists in our community. That's it for now! As always, thank you for supporting your athletes with what they do. In the meantime, we will continue to strive for improvement, dream big, and celebrate the journey (with the ups and downs that come with it). Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions. All the best, Coach Voland
