Weekly Awards from the Red Grange Invite on 4/24

Runner of the week: NATE ADAMSKI -- "This weeks runner of the week goes to a kid who has shown his dedication to the program week after week, slowly climbing his way up the ranks and into the four by two, which he ran this past week despite the relay nearly needing to scratch. He stayed focused and ran a good split in the relay, while also running a pr in the open 200 with a time of 23.36. Before last weeks meet he also got a pr in the 100 meter dash. His progress and improvement this season has been inspiring, and we can't wait to see what he does at the end of this year and next year. This weeks runner of the week goes to Nate Adamski" - Nolan Borgman
Field athlete of the week: DEVIN WHITE - "This guy is a fairly new addition to the team, he joined us for the tail end of indoor, but was injured in the time we transition to outdoor. Despite this he showed up to practice and even threw disc in a boot. His first outdoor meet he threw just shy of 120 ft and now he hasn't thrown under 120 in a meet since, and PR-ed in every meet as well. I'm exited to see what this guy does with the rest of the season. Congrats Devin White on the PR and field athlete of the week" - Bode Haber
Fire in the eyes: ELY TEDFORD - "This runner couldn't race during cross country because he was injured but he kept his fitness by biking all season long. He's been hard at work this season, and this last Friday he finally got the pr he was looking for. After coming through on pace for a pr in the first lap, this runner grit his teeth and pushed through for a massive 3 second pr in the 800. This weeks fire in the eyes award goes to Ely Tedford!" - Keaton Peter
Captain's Award: WILL CASAZZA - "This week's Captain's Award goes to a kid who has really been putting the work in. I've seen a lot injuries the past few years but the injury this kid had was something I've never seen before. Despite having to take a while off running due to the pain of his injury, he has bounced back stronger than he was before. On Friday this kid got moved into the varsity 4x800 which for a freshman was a huge step up. Despite the pressure he managed to run a monster PR this week in the 800. We can't wait to see how this kid will progress! This week's captains award goes to Will Cazaza" - Luke Dupuy
Awesome Award: JAYDEN MCKAY - "This week’s awesome award winner goes to a senior sprinter and jumper been showing dedication. This athlete was high jumping then substituted for our 4by200 as anchor. Which is a difficult position to be put in such a competitive meet and to be anchor. This runner still gave it is all and still competed in high jump after. We see your dedication to the team and know we wouldn’t be complete without it. This week's awesome award goes to Jayden McKay." - Jordan Ademuyiwa
That's it! Weekly awards will be presented later this week in a full-team meeting. Remember to bookmark www.gwtrackandfield.com and join our Remind to stay connected.
