Weekly Awards from "The Best 4" at Wheaton North:

Runner of the week: OWEN ASHMORE - "This week's runner in the week goes to a sprinter who’s been put in a new position. This runner was put as 2nd leg in the 4by1, the leg with the highest level of competition for his first varsity 4by1 and helped win the race he also placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles, a race that he’s completely new to. He’s an important runner to the team and we can’t wait to see how he succeeds later in this outdoor season. This week's runner award goes to Owen ashmore" - Jordan Ademuyiwa
Field athlete of the week: AARON HAFNER - "this week's field athlete of the week is a sophomore who is beyond dedicated. last year this thrower threw 111 feet in the Jim Arnold, 100 at conant, and 104 at conference. This year he came out with an insane 130 foot season opener. This athlete has put in the work in the offseason and it shows. It's hard to believe this guy's a sophomore with the marks he's putting up week after week. he's going to be an important part of our team in sectionals this year and years to come . This wee's field athlete of the week goes to Aaron hafner." - Bode Haber
Fire in the eyes: RYAN REBMAN - "This weeks fire in the eyes goes to a underclass man who has been consistently improving his time in the 400m, getting a crazy pr of 53.33 seconds during his meet on Saturday. He's always putting in the work during practice and it's showing in his results. We can't wait to see what he does throughout his Highschool career, there's no doubt he's found his race in the 400. This weeks fire in the eyes goes to Ryan Rebman" - Nolan Borgman
Captain's Award: RAFAY KHAN - "This weeks captains award goes to a kid who has set the example for dedication and pride to everyone else on the team. In the last 4 years, I've seen plenty of guys on the team but I've never seen someone as driven before. A few months ago, this kid came up to me and asked what times do I have to run to be Varsity. We ended up talking about what it takes to get there and he wanted to know every single possible thing he can do it improve. Since this, he's been at every morning practice he can get to and we all have noticed him trying his hardest to make the jump the to Group one. Making the jump is never easy but this kid has shown that this pain is something that he enjoys rather than avoids. Although this is track, something we noticed was in Cross Country, this kid ran a 24:25 in the 3 Mile which is around 8 minute pace, a few weeks ago we had a morning shakeout before a meet and this kid did 3 miles with us and the pace was around 7:15 pace which means he ran around a 21:45 3 mile. I know a lot of people haven't run cross country but running almost 3 minutes faster than your cross country pr on an easy run 6 months later is absolutely insane. He has already become the model of what everyone should strive to be on our team. I can't wait to see how far this dedication can get him. This week's captains award goes to Rafay Khan." - Luke Dupuy
Awesome Award: ELI HERMSEN - "This runner is new to the track distance team but does not shy away from challenging workouts with group one. This week at wheaton north his work paid off as he ran an impressive seven second pr in a competitive 800 meter race. I can't wait to see some more good races, this weeks awesome award goes to eli hermsen." - Matt King
