Food Drive Continues through Thursday

  • Athletes can bring canned food to the PE office before, during, or after school, or bring them to practice.

  • Top needs include: mac and cheese, cereal, beans, syrup, pancake mix, dish soap, canned fruit, canned chicken, sugar, canned pasta, mayo, ketchup.

  • We will collect our final donations at the pasta party on Thursday

  • To be honest, we've gotten very little so far. If everyone brings one or two items, we will have a lot to help our local community.

Pasta Party this Thursday at 4:15 in the Cafeteria

  • All athletes are invited to enjoy some great food (Barone's) and even better company going into our conference meet.

  • We will also collect final food drive donations. Please try to bring at least 1-2 canned items to the pasta party if you were unable to bring anything before that point.

Weekly Awards

Each week, we will recognize a handful of athletes for exceptional efforts at our meets. Our team captains have selected the following athletes from last week's home meet to be recognized.

  • Runner of the week: MATT KING - This guy ran a lifetime best in the 3200 at Distance Madness last Monday. His PR of 9:32 was about a 14 second PR and is now just 4 seconds off of the state-qualifying mark. He ran that time on an indoor track, so outdoor will be no problem. Way to go, Matt King!

  • Field athlete of the week: BRAXTON SKUBIC - This kid had a DOUBLE PR on Saturday and ended up clearing 11'6" as a sophomore, which would have been a sophomore school record before last year. He's really growing as a vaulter and is making incredible strides. This outdoor season and future seasons are going to be great. Way to work, Braxton!

  • Captains Award: BODE HABER - This kid could be a coach and truly better our team in that role, right now. He's only a junior, so he's focusing on vaulting and helping his teammates as of now. But he's killing it in the vault, and he's also doing everything he can, every day, to help set up, help tear down, help coach up his teammates, and help better our team. We are all better as a result of your commitment and contributions. Way to go, Bode!

  • Fire in the eyes: BRYCE ELLENS - This kid ran a PR in the 55 on Saturday at a 6.78. That would have been our fastest time on the team just a few years ago, and he ran this as a sophomore. He also doubled and ran a killer split in the 4x200 with fire in the eyes as he ran. Nice work Bryce, big things are coming!

  • Awesome Award: ELY TEDFORD & CHASE MARTIN SCOTT

    • Ely had a 7 second PR in the 800 last week, which is about how long it takes a great sprinter to run the 55. To PR by that margin in a relatively short race like the 800 is nothing short of awesome, nice job Ely!

    • Chase ran a 2-second PR in the open 400, running the frosh/soph school record in the process. That 51.56 puts him in the record books, and he did that while sick! That would have been a 51 flat or faster, which is absolutely nuts as a sophomore. Way to go, Chase!
