Hi everyone,

Here is what we would like to share with you this week:

  • Food Drive from Mon, March 9 - Thursday, March 19th

  • Proviso West meet this Friday

  • Mustang Relays and Distance Madness for limited athletes

  • Awards from last week

Annual Food Drive starts Monday!

  • This year, we will continue to support the local Glen House Food Pantry

  • We will collect food pantry donations through March 19th (Thursday of next week, same day as our March pasta party)

  • Donating in paper bags (like those found at Trader Joe's or Mariano's) makes donating easier!

  • Athletes can bring canned goods to the PE office before, during, or after school, or they can bring items to practice.

  • New this year: I will also be able to send out a QR code to have items delivered to the food pantry directly from Amazon

  • Top needs include: mac and cheese, cereal, beans, syrup, pancake mix, dish soap, canned fruit, canned chicken, sugar, canned pasta, mayo, ketchup.

  • I'll be sending periodic emails with updates on how this is going this week and next.

  • Thank you for helping us support the Glen House Food Pantry. With 100+ athletes on our team, we have the ability to make a big difference for our local community.

Weekly Awards

Each week, we will recognize a handful of athletes for exceptional efforts at our meets. Our team captains have selected the following athletes from the Morton dual on 2/26:

  • Runner of the week: SEBASTIAN APS -- "This runner has blown us away early this season with his speed, and he showed that at the Morton meet where he won the varsity 55 meter as a freshman with a personal best of 7.24 seconds. We can't wait to see where he goes the rest of this season and the coming years, this weeks runner of the week goes to Sebastian Aps." - Nolan Borgman

  • Field athlete of the week: DEVON WHITE -- "This weeks field athlete of the week goes to a new junior on our team. Morton was his first meet with us and he rocked it with a throw of 38,6 with a glide step for second place in the meet. No doubt he'll be a heavy hitter and keep improving strongly throughout the season. This week's field athlete of the week is Devon White." - Bode Haber

  • Fire in the eyes: NATHAN GISSING & PATRICK HIBBARD -- "During the Morton meet, there were only two milers, both from Glenbard West. Despite them being the only two people in the race, these two athletes showed the fire in their eyes and competed for the whole ten laps, keeping the race close. This week's fire in the eyes goes to the dueling mile runners, Nathan Gissing and Patrick Hibbard!" - Keaton Peter

  • Captain's Award: MAX BAKKEN -- "Coming out and being dedicated to track as a senior isn’t easy. This is this runners first year doing track as a senior and he’s been showing dedication through this season. He’s doing another sport in the spring but is still fully dedicated to track and improving himself in his events. We hope he can stay around and keep become a better jumper. This weeks captains award goes to Max Bakken." - Jordan Ademuyiwa

  • Awesome Award: PATRICK O'DONNELL -- "This kid is one of the newer distance runners and has already been putting up some really impressive times for a sophomore. He shows out at practice and still manages to be very committed to the team even though he is playing soccer. This Thursday he ran a fast 600 and won the race then came back and ran a great 400 split. We hope to see this kid keep up the hard work and fast times. This weeks awesome award goes to Patrick O'Donell." - Matt King
