First, we have a home meet Wednesday against Leyden and Addison Trail:

Next, we have Friday's limited-entry Invitational at Batavia:
Many will not compete
2 buses (Delcid and Mastandrea). 1 leaving at 3:00 and the other at 3:30
Field events start at 4:30, running events start at 5:00

Athletes should have an idea of what they are running for each meet and should know which day(s) they are competing. The finalized line-up for Friday will be ready tomorrow; and since Wednesday's line-up depends on who is competing on Friday, that will be finalized by tomorrow as well. Food Drive: With over 100 athletes on our team, we have the potential to do great things for our community when we work together. As such, we are kicking off a food drive this week! As you shop this week, please consider picking up a few extra items to eventually be donated to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. We will be collecting non-perishable items through Tuesday, March 7th (next week). Please bring donations to school in paper bags with handles (paper bags from Trader Joe's or Mariano's are great examples), and consider bringing the following top-needs items: cooking oil, canned chili/pasta/sloppy joes, brown or flavored rice, jarred pasta sauce / boxed pasta, ramen noodles, pinto beans (dried or canned), oatmeal, cookies, liquid hand soap, and boxed potatoes. Thank you to Heidi Verbiscer and team moms for getting this organized! Attendance Procedures: As a quick reminder, please note that we have an excused absence form on www.gwtrackandfield.com. Athletes are the only ones who have access to it, so they should be in the habit of filling this out if they know that they will need to miss a practice or a meet. Thank you! Celebrations from Last Week: Last week's meet at Morton led to over 20 personal records and many other incredible efforts. We also celebrated the following awards:
Runner of the week: Owen Reifel for his amazing double in the 1600 and 4x4
Field Athlete of the week: Frankie Iarrobino for having a monster PR in long jump and really beginning to see those pieces come together.
Captain's Award: Luke Dupuy for cheering on every athlete and congratulating everyone after each of their races
Fire-in-the-eyes: Anthony Nitti for running both of his races as if winning was the only option. He knew what he had to do, and if you witnessed his races, I'm sure you saw the flames!
Awesome Award: Fabian Ramos for hitting a 3-foot PR in shot put. Tremendous!
Thank you to my captains for deciding on these awards and celebrating them during today's team meeting. It's been an excellent week! As always, please let me know if you have any thoughts or questions. All the best, Coach Voland
