Hi everyone,
Here's what I'd like to share with you all this week:
Team Shop extended through today (Tuesday) only
Addison Trail Meet on Thursday is now LIMITED ENTRY
Batavia Meet on Saturday (Everyone will compete)
Awards for last week
Online Team Shop Closes Today
Many athletes and families mentioned that they still wanted to place an order through the team shop. I was able to extend that through today (Tuesday) only. If interested, please place those orders before Wednesday!
Addison Trail Meet on Thursday
The format of this meet has changed since last year, which will limit how many athletes we can bring. Therefore, we will treat this meet as more of a "JV" meet. If your son is not competing, they will have an opportunity to compete on Saturday.
2 busses will leave Biester at 3:15: Voland and Schweighardt
Line-ups will be available by practice time tomorrow (Wednesday)
No pole vault available
Field events begin at 4:30, running events begin at 5:00. Varsity precedes JV in each event
1/8th inch spikes are permitted, but NOT for HIGH JUMP (due to facility limitations)
There will be very limited space in the bleachers for spectating. Parents can bring their own folding chairs for spectating to be placed in the infield as long as they are not impeding competition
Live results will be available here: https://live.athletic.net/meets/30330
Order of events: 4x8, 4x160, 3200, High Hurdles, 55, 800, 400, 600, Low Hurdles, 1600, 200, 4x400
Batavia Meet on Saturday
Open format -- All athletes will compete!
3 busses at 7:00: Nugent, Frazier, Mastandrea

Awards from Last Week
Each week, we will recognize a handful of athletes for exceptional efforts at our meets. Our team captains have selected the following athletes from last week's home meet: Ben Saucedo, Chase Martin-Scott, Luke Dupuy, Ely Tedford, and Mason Ellens.

Runner of the week: Ely Tedford. "Ely Tedford has been training super consistently since the start of the school year but over winter break is when he’s made massive strides to become an even stronger and better runner which led him to open up his season in the mile with a massive PR of 5:06 and earn runner of the week for this amazing performance" - Captain Anthony Nitti
Field Athlete of the week: Ben Saucedo. "This week’s field athlete award goes to Ben Saucedo who did incredible in two running events, which aren’t even his speciality. He ran a low 7 second time for the dash and dominated in the cake race, holding the last leg of the relay to win it for West. We’re really excited to see Ben do amazing again in both throwing and maybe even some more running in future cake relays. His passion for the team is also great to see during the 4x4 relay when he helps lead chants and encourage everyone." - Captain Mihir Sharma
Captain's Award: Luke Dupuy. Luke is often the first athlete to ask if there is any way he can help set up equipment or help his teammates in any way. On Thursday, you could tell how much he cares for his team by watching him help set up the events and cheer on his teammates. Thank you, Luke, for being a great example on how to not only compete your hardest, but to help others compete their hardest as well.
Fire in the Eyes: Chase Martin-Scott. "This weeks fire in the eyes athlete showed a glimpse of greatness in his 4x4 splitting 56 as a freshman and quite literally catching 50 people on his leg. Congrats, chase and we’re excited to see what you can do." - Captain Rayan Mohammad
Awesome Award: Mason Ellens. "Our awesome award winner had a great 50m dash running 6.1, running the fastest time at the meet and following that up with a solid 200 and winning that race as well. Congrats, Mason, on 2 great times and here’s to a big season ahead." - Captain Eduardo Vargas
Thanks, everyone! Please let me know if you have any questions. Don't forget to join our Remind, bookmark www.gwtrackandfield.com, order from our team shop (today!), and sign up to help our team (meet snacks / pasta parties & banquet).
All the best,
Coach Voland
