Week 5 Preview: Thursday & Saturday Meets, Fundraiser Recap, Team Meeting Tuesday, Team Shop

Good morning track & field parents and guardians,

Here is your week 5 preview. Looking forward to another great week!

Thursday & Saturday Meets This Week:

• We have two buses leaving West at 3:30 PM on Thursday to take us to Addison Trail HS. 1/8th inch pyramid spikes ARE allowed on this track (just not for high jump). Field events are expected to begin at 4:30, and running events are expected to begin at 5:00. It's a 2 level meet (V/JV), and athletes will know what events they are in by the end of the day on Tuesday.

• We also have two buses leaving West at 7:30 AM on Saturday to Batavia HS. Field events are expected to begin at 9:00, and track events are expected to begin at 9:30. Athletes will know what events they are in towards the middle/end of the week.

• New information may be made available to me throughout the week. I'll share that information as soon as I have it!

Fundraiser Recap:

Our fundraiser has officially ended! With your help, we have raised a total of $9,807.70. THANK YOU! While our original goal was $15,000, this will still go a very long way in terms of helping our program provide uniforms, team meals, equipment, and more to 100+ athletes. Again... Thank you!!!

Some parents and families have asked if it is OK to write a check to our program if they did not participate in the fundraiser. First, I want to be clear that this is not a requirement. Of course, we will gratefully accept checks written out to Glenbard West Boys Track if you wish to support our program in this way. Please include an envelope or a sticky note labeled "anonymous" if you do not wish for your donation to be publicly known. (All donations go through the school board and will be published in the meeting minutes if not labeled as anonymous).

Team Meeting Tuesday:

This Tuesday, we'll start practice with a quick team meeting for athletes only. (This is just an FYI for parents). In this meeting, we'll celebrate last Thursday's meet with the following weekly awards: Runner of the Week, Field Athlete of the Week (not applicable for last week), Captain's Award, Fire-in-the-Eyes Award, and the Awesome Award. The names for these awards are somewhat vague in nature so that future captains can use a variety of criteria to give these awards to our athletes. A recap of the meet will be made available to all of you after our team meeting on Tuesday.

Team Shop Remains Open This Week:

Our team shop remains open for this week only. Please place your orders before Sunday, 2/19/23.
