Hello, everyone!
We are looking forward to a full week this week. Practices start at 3:15 and generally end at 5:00, although some training groups may end earlier depending on what their training looks like that day. Here is what I'd like to share with you all this week:
Parent Meeting on Thursday
Spike Week / Team Week This Week
Bring locks for varsity locker room
Staying ahead of absences
Get connected!
Parent Meeting this Thursday, 1/30 from 5:15-6:15 in Cafeteria
This is intended for at least one parent/guardian of ALL athletes, even if your athlete is currently participating in another sport. I understand there will be some conflicts. Please let me know if you will be unable to make it.
Team Week at Dick Pond Athletics in Carol Stream
Starting today, Jan 26th through Sunday, February 2nd, Dick Pond Athletics in Carol Stream will be running a Team Week for Glenbard West Boys Track. You will get 10% off spikes, trainers, apparel and accessories. You also earn $20 in individual rewards for every $200 spent. See the Dick Pond Athletics Team Week Flyer.
Bring Locks for Varsity Locker Room
All athletes should be using the varsity locker room to get ready for track practice each day. We need to avoid placing our bags on the side of the track. There simply isn't enough room for this in the fieldhouse. If you are currently in PE, you will need a separate lock from the one you are using in PE.
Staying ahead of absences
ALL absences from track practice (unless you are currently in a Winter Sport) should be pre-arranged using our Pre-Arranged Absences Google Form. If you are currently in a winter sport at West, you don't have to worry about this form quite yet. Otherwise, parents and athletes may notice automated emails going home this week simply summarizing when and why athletes may have been absent from practice.
Quick Note: Only athletes have access to this pre-arranged absence form. Parents can/should guide their athletes to complete the form, but we want the athletes themselves to take responsibility for communicating their absences. Also, I know this is not always possible, but we really want to encourage athletes and families to schedule doctor/dentist/other appointments outside of practices/meets when possible.
Get Connected!
Check out our team website at www.gwtrackandfield.com. You'll find all previous email communications there, as well as important links including the pre-arranged absence form, the meet schedule, and more.
Also, please consider joining our Remind for in-the-moment announcements during practices and meets. If prompted, please specify whether you are a student or a parent/guardian.
Not planning to do track this year?
If you are no longer interested in doing track, no worries! Please just let me know so that I can get a better idea of what our roster will look like this year. I can also remove you from this email list.
All the best,
Coach Voland
