Some of our athletes will continue on to the V/FS conference at York on Thursday of next week. This line-up will be finalized tomorrow. Sectionals and state will follow in the weeks after!
Celebrations:
Runner of the week: Mason Ellens. Mason had a 0.3 sec PR in 100 and 200. He is ranked 7th in the state for 100, just 0.1 from 1st in the state. He is also ranked 7th in the state in the 200, just 0.03 off Tyquan Cox’s school record
Field athlete of the week: Luke Benson. Luke had a PR and school record in Triple Jump and is also ranked 7th in the state at 46’5”. He also had a PR and State qualifying mark in High Jump at 6’3".
Fire in the eyes: Matt King. In the mile, Matt King had a strong PR and won the race by over 10 seconds. Running that PR by himself!
Captain’s Award: Bode Haber. Bode worked PV for the entire meet (several hours!), supported his teammates, and even had coaches from other schools compliment his hard work. He then proceeded to vault himself until after the 4x400. Thanks for supporting the team, Bode!
Awesome Award:
Matthew Murin. Matthew had a huge 6-second PR in the 400. Mr. Murin was a young athlete in a big invite, and has great things coming!
Ben Saucedo - Ben had a season best in shot put AND discus at the Arnold Invite. State qualifying marks are right around the corner!
Ben Schoettle - Ben had another half second PR in 110H of 16.2. Ben is the fastest freshman 110 hurdler we’ve ever had, his time is within the top 10 efforts in GW history, and he is ranked as the 3rd best freshmen in the state of Illinois.
That's all for now! Please let me know if you have any questions.
All the best,
Coach Voland
