Hello everyone,

  • There is even more information on the WWS website here.

Senior Night Tuesday of Next Week (Parking Might be Tight) On Tuesday of next week, we will host a home meet against Addison Trail and Willowbrook at 4:30. We will also use this as an opportunity to celebrate our centennial seniors! Please note that parking might be tight that night, as it is the same date as Glenbard West's Centennial Celebration as a whole. Athletes Working Future Home Meets Looking ahead at our calendar, it's important to note that we will be hosting several important home meets in the coming weeks. This includes our senior night home meet, our Jim Arnold Invite next Saturday, JV/Frosh Conference the Saturday after, and Varsity/FS conference the week after that. It's important to note that all athletes who are not competing at these meets will still be required to attend so that they can help work the meet and cheer on their teammates. We will assign supporting roles as we create the meet lineup for each meet. Athletes: thank you in advance for your help!! Haake Celebrations We had some of the best efforts and performances that we've seen all year last week, and I'd like to share some of those with you now: First, we celebrated over 90 outdoor personal bests from the Haake Invitational at today's team meeting. And remember: not all improvement is seen through a time, height, or distance. Sometimes it's something smaller, like developing a new hurdle rhythm or starting to pick up on a certain technique. Official PR's will come! Next, our captains named the following athletes for our weekly awards:

  • Runner of the Week: Spencer Melms for recently embarking on his T&F journey and splitting a 55.05 on his very first 4x4 split

  • Field athletes of the week: Jayden Daniel and Laz Tate for getting massive PR's in long jump of 3 ft and 2 ft, respectively

  • Captain's Award: Thomas Wion for being an extremely dedicated hurdler and high jumper, consistently working hard, and helping us all clean up after hosting the meet last week

  • Fire in the Eyes: Matt King for a huge PR in the mile and an incredible finish in that race despite the pain he has been feeling in his foot along the way

  • Awesome Award: Dylan Gasaway for earning a triple (!!) PR in the high jump for a total improvement of 6 inches. I'm pretty sure that's a PR for the number of PR's anyone's gotten in a single event on a single day this year!

That is all for now. As always, please consider joining my Remind for last-minute updates by texting the message @dvoland to the number 81010. Have a great evening! All the best, Coach Voland
