Good morning parents and guardians,
As we prepare for today's meet, I also wanted to share a bit more information with you:
2023 Captains I want to congratulate the following upperclassmen on being named Boys Track & Field captains for the 2023 season: Julius Ellens, Charlie Halden, Evan Knight, Rayan Mohammad, Nolan Nuccio, Owen Reifel, Benjamin Saucedo, Mihir Sharma, Eduardo Vargas, and Matthew Verbiscer. I am incredibly appreciative of the continued leadership from our distance captains and our new leaders representing the other event areas on our team. Please note: the only way we were able to name captains for the 2023 season was to vote on them after this season had already started. In the future, we will always vote on captains for the following season towards the end of the current season. Last Week's Awards Last week was a big week with excellent efforts across the board. Our athletes continued to celebrate their journey, seek improvement, and dream big for the future. Additionally, we were able to recognize 79 personal records across our team! Finally, the following weekly awards were celebrated:
Runner of the week: Jack Swick for an excellent 800 PR and 4x400 split PR at Batavia
Field athlete of the week: Luke Benson for winning triple jump at Batavia and being less than 2 feet from a state-qualifying jump already!
Captain’s Award: Rayan Mohammad and Ben Saucedo for rounding the troops and getting an intense cheering section going at Addison Trail and Batavia
Fire in the eyes: Jack Jenks for an incredible kick in the 1600 at Addison Trail
Awesome Award: Eli Peterselli for embracing one of the hardest events there is in T&F (the 400) at the beginning of his T&F Journey
Awesome Award #2: Sean Stevens for showing incredible grit, perseverance, and growth in Pole Vault. Your efforts are not going unnoticed!
